Curcumin Improves Osteoarthritis Symptoms, Study Finds

A new study provided strong evidence that curcumin, the main curcuminoid of the turmeric (Curcuma longa) spice, might work for osteoarthritis.

The study compared the efficacy and safety of curcumin with those of diclofenac in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA). The 139 patients in this study received either a curcumin capsule three times daily or a diclofenac tablet two times daily for 4 weeks.

The study concluded that Curcumin is similarly effective to diclofenac at relieving pain in patients with knee OA. What’s more it has fewer side effects!
